Melodies in Motion

Our journey extends far beyond traditional stages, as we traverse alternative venues, turning every corner into a stage and every heart into an audience. With each recital and performance, we play melodies that echo through schools, churches, community centers and beyond. Ultimately harmonizing communities with the universal language of music.

Frequently

Asked Questions

Do I have to play in a recital?

Recitals are not mandatory but highly encouraged. Recitals help to keep students motivated and inspire each other. They are a great way to connect with fellow musicians and support and encourage each other.

Do I need previous musical training to sign up for lessons?

No experience is necessary. We love teaching beginners at Farkash Music Studio!

How much should I be practicing?

Consistent practice is the key to successfully playing an instrument. Young beginners should practice at least 20 minutes a day. Older and more advanced students should practice at least 30-60 minutes a day depending on their musical goals.

What age do you accept students?

We begin accepting students at age 4 for piano. Flute and oboe students usually begin around age 9, but it depends on the individual students. Some are ready earlier. If you are not sure, please schedule an introductory lesson and Farkash Music Studio can help you determine a student’s readiness.

Do I need to have an instrument at home in order to take music lessons?

Consistent practice is necessary to successfully learn a musical instrument. Therefore, you must have an instrument at home. If you do not have a piano, a small keyboard can work to get started. If you are on a budget, the recorder is very inexpensive and a wonderful way to gain a strong musical background. Farkash Music Studio can help advise you if you need help acquiring an instrument.

What if I decide to no longer continue lessons?

When you become a member, you are committing to an 18 week semester. If you decide not to continue for the following semester, you must notify Farkash Music Studio in writing at least 30 days before the following semester begins. If you decide not to continue lessons before the end of the semester, you are still responsible for paying for the remainder of the semester.

What does the annual studio fee cover?

The annual studio fee helps to cover operating costs and expenses of the studio. Some examples are recital fees and preparations (programs, refreshments, facility rental), piano tuning, reed tools, instrument repair, website maintenance, sheet music, method books, solo literature, video editing software, music teacher association fees, teacher travel, and continuing education.
